Seeking Solace: A Trauma Recovery Program

At Sun Belt Psychology, our "Seeking Solace" program is designed to help individuals find comfort  in the aftermath of trauma, whether the trauma occurred yesterday or decades ago. Traumatic experiences may include childhood abuse/neglect, sexual assault, physical assault, being the victim of a crime, natural disasters, car accidents, serious physical injury, or work-related accidents, and any other experiences that may have significantly impacted your life.

While traumatic or stressful experiences can be a part of life, its not often as simple as, 'just letting it go.' The very biological adaptations that help people survive traumatic situations can sometimes work too well, leading to a variety of trauma-related symptoms such as feeling the need to always be 'on guard', strong emotional and physical reactions to trauma reminders, nightmares and unwanted memories of the trauma, feeling constantly 'unsafe', difficulties with relationships and trust, self-blame/guilt, depression, and irritability.

We understand that healing is a journey, and that journey is individual to each person. Our program provides a safe and supportive environment where you can explore your emotions, build resilience, and cultivate a sense of inner peace in the aftermath of tragedy. Through personalized therapy and evidence-based practices, we guide you toward not only overcoming the pain of the past but also discovering new strength and purpose for your future. "Seeking Solace" is more than recovery—it's about growing into a brighter, more empowered future where you are in control of your life instead of your past experiences.

Trauma Therapies

The "Seeking Solace" program primarily utilizes gold standard treatments for trauma recovery that have been shown through extensive research to reduce trauma-related symptoms.

Prolonged Exposure

Dr. Taylor Howard is trained to provide Prolonged Exposure (PE). PE is a first-line PTSD treatment that focuses on assisting clients in taking back their lives and confronting trauma reminders.

Cognitive Processing Therapy

Dr. Taylor Howard is also trained to provide Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). CPT is a first-line therapy for PTSD which focuses on moving forward and thinking differently after a traumatic event.

Our trauma-recovery program puts you in control of your healing journey. Offering both short-term intensive support (i.e., massed treatment which includes 2-3 sessions weekly for 3-4 weeks) and longer-term therapeutic pathways, we empower each individual to choose the treatment options that align with their needs, pace, and goals. With a focus on healing, autonomy, and personalized care, we help you reclaim your life—one step at a time.
